Whether you have 5 or 500 trick-or-treaters ringing your doorbell on Halloween, finding snacks kids will like without contributing to blood sugar spikes or tooth decay is a challenge. At the very least, you want to ensure your door doesn’t get TP’d (or egged) because you gave out something lame. We’ve put some ideas together we hope will help provide some healthier Halloween ideas that everyone will love. (You’ll also find a few bonus ideas for reusing/recycling below.)
Enjoy, and Happy Halloween!
ALTERNATIVES TO THROW-AWAY TRICK-OR-TREAT SACKS AND COSTUMES:
- Give your trick-or-treaters reusable bags or even use pillowcases to collect their loot.
- Donate your costume: instead of throwing it away, save it to donate for next year. Schools, community programs, thrift stores and shelters are all great places to donate adult and children’s costumes to be enjoyed next year by someone else.
- Rent your costumes: this option may actually be less expensive, and ensures the costume will be used again. Win-win.
