One of my most popular blog posts is, “The Lazy Peoples’ Guide to Spring Cleaning Your Web Presence”, and I am pleasantly surprised at how relevant this post still is today. However, this year, I had another idea.
My ONE (it’s always one) 2018 New Year’s Resolution is to “Up My Game”.
Have you ever thought about what that means to you? What would it take to up your game? I think that we all have room for improvement, and each one of us individually can up our game in our own way, however, what if you think you’re already doing okay?
I have over-patted my own back for about a decade for living longer than my mother did, who died at the age of 47. Believe me when I say, that around the same age, my numbers didn’t look too good and I was destined to go to sleep one night and not wake up, just as she did. My cholesterol was high, my weight was high and my cholesterol was high. And this is NOT a time that the term “high” is fun and party-ish. It’s deadly.
So I made major changes. I went on Weight Watchers, exercised, became vegetarian – vegan – pescatarian (food has changed much over the years) and guess what? I am still alive.
After ten years of congratulating myself on reaching the next birthday and continuing to be on this earth, I thought, maybe it’s time to blow the dust off my participation trophy and up my game.
Here are a few ways I still needed improvement:
- My energy level would tank every afternoon. I would have tons of energy every morning and after 3pm? Comatose R Us.
- I was in pain. Yeah, old-lady-pain in my hips and ankles. Try maintaining your mojo with that hampering you.
- Here’s some TMI… I suffered from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). Yucky and embarrassing. That is a romance killer if I ever smelled one.
It’s April and are you wondering, how’s it going with that old “up your game” attitude, Ana? Got your mojo back? Walking without feeling like the old grey mare? Why, yes, it’s all better now, thank you for asking.
Now, I am going to tell you how I did it. First, I signed up for three course. Yeah, these courses are hard work.
- Deepak Chopra’s Mind/Body Detox — COMPLETED
- Marie Forleo’s B-School — HALF COMPLETED
- Deepak Chopra’s Primordial Meditation — BEGINNING
The first class really made me look at myself as an individual and how to create mind/body health and balance, by utilizing my particular dosha, which is Vata-Kapha. I discovered things I should eliminate from my daily life, such as coffee, sugar, cold foods and drinks and yes, chocolate.
Believe me… this was NOT easy. I endured headaches and cravings during the withdrawal period, but the results are tremendous! More energy, less sleep. No yucky IBS. No. More. Pain!
Needless to say, eating per my dosha is my new go-to method for mind/body health and balance. This has given me a calmness and clarity that I never knew I had inside me all along.
Take a look at your life and business. Are you ready to up your game? Any projects (including yourself) that can benefit from a boost? Your social media presence? Your email marketing? Your daily habits?
Now if you want some help to up your game in social media or email marketing, please sign up for our monthly news or send me an email an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
